FG Cash Transfer News: 25,204 Plateau Households Benefit, Small Businesses Grow

The Federal Government has stepped in with financial aid to support thousands of vulnerable families in Plateau State. Under the Renewed Hope Cash Transfer programme, a total of 25,204 households have been enrolled, with thousands already receiving their debit cards to access the funds. According to Mrs. Mary Fom, the State Coordinator of the National Social Investment Programme, 23,797 beneficiaries have collected their cards and are now part of the ongoing disbursement exercise.

This programme is providing a lifeline to many households struggling to survive the high cost of living and limited opportunities in the state. Beneficiaries include petty traders, small business owners, and struggling families who depend on the transfers to restock their goods, expand micro businesses, and meet their daily household needs. For many, the money has become a key driver to restart their small-scale operations and ensure food remains on their tables.

The initiative goes beyond direct cash transfers, as it is linked with other support schemes like N-Power, school feeding, and enterprise empowerment programmes. These schemes are all designed to support grassroots businesses and strengthen the local economy by injecting funds into the informal sector. Such efforts are not only helping families but also creating ripple effects for market women, artisans, and small entrepreneurs across Plateau State.

Mrs. Fom praised the Federal Government for sustaining the project under President Bola Tinubu and also recognized Governor Caleb Mutfwang for providing an enabling environment for the programme to thrive. She explained that the partnership at both federal and state levels ensures that the social investment scheme reaches those who need it most, preventing poverty from deepening further in rural and urban communities.

Economic analysts believe that initiatives like this cash transfer play a significant role in stimulating small and medium-scale enterprises, which form the backbone of Plateau’s economy. By giving families purchasing power, the programme is helping to drive local demand, ensuring that small shops, roadside sellers, and farmers experience steady income flow. This in turn contributes to the recovery of the economy at the grassroots level, even as inflation and unemployment continue to pose challenges.

The Renewed Hope Cash Transfer is now seen as more than just a poverty relief plan; it is gradually becoming an engine for small business growth and community development. With over 25,000 families covered in Plateau State alone, expectations remain high that many more households across Nigeria will be empowered under this scheme.
